City of Batavia Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Met May 4.

This meeting took place in person at the Batavia Police Department Conference room. Meeting started at 4:34 p.m.

Members Present: Chairman Nancy Vance; Commissioner Randy Zies

Members Absent: Secretary Dennis Anderson

Others Present: Police Deputy Chief Glenn Autenrieth; Fire Chief Randy Deicke; Recording Secretary Joanne Miller

APPROVE PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Motion: To approve the April 6, 2021 Regular Meeting Minutes.

Motion: To approve the April 6, 2021 Executive Session Minutes.

2020 BFPC Annual Report

Motion: To approve the 2020 Board of Fire and Police Annual Report as submitted.

End of Probationary Status for 2 Police Officers:

Deputy Chief Autenrieth reported that the 18-month probationary period for Officers Bryce Renninger and James Reece ended April 21, 2021. Deputy Chief Autenrieth discussed their progress and stated that they both successfully completed their probation.

Motion: That Officer’s Bryce Renninger and James Reece, having been advised that they have both successfully completed their probation, be certified by the Commission as being appointed as a Permanent Full-Time Police Officers.

NEW BUSINESS

Board of Fire and Police Rules and Regulations

Motion: To adopt the new Batavia Fire and Police Commission Rules and Regulations to include a Secondary Eligibility Register for Certified Police Candidates in accordance with the Illinois Municipal Code 65 ILCS 5/10-2, section 1-14. These new Rules and Regulations will be published in the Kane County Chronicle on May 13, 2021. The new changes shall be operable 10 days from the day of publication.

Police Department

Police Sergeant Promotional Exam Update: Deputy Chief Autenrieth relayed the updates on the progress of the Police Sergeant Exam for Chief Eul, who was unable to attend the meeting: Chief Eul contacted Steven Hale with Resource Management Associates to discuss the reading list for the written exam, Oral Interview Board, and the Assessment Center. The tentative timeline for testing: Written Exam/Merit Efficiency Process-August 21, Oral Interviews-October 5, and Assessment Center – October 11-13, 2021.

Appointment of 1 Police Officer

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners have authorization to hire (1) police officer due to the Retirement of Officer John Lambert on January 11, 2021. Jacob Wollenweber was given a conditional offer and has successfully completed the requirements within the offer.

Motion: To offer Jacob Wollenweber. the position of Probationary Police Officer with the Batavia Police Department effective, June 2, 2021, contingent upon successful completion of the pre-academy P.O.W.E.R. test on June 1, 2021.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to consider, a motion was made by Commissioner Zies to adjourn the meeting at 5:11 p.m. Seconded by Chairman Vance. All in favor. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:11 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021, beginning at 4:00 p.m. This meeting will be held in the Batavia Police Department Conference Room.
