EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
WHAT IT IS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT?
Emotional wellness is the ability to successfully handle life's stresses and adapt to change and difficult times. Given the last year, it has been especially hard to maintain stress levels. But you need to remember… your emotions are valid and important.
On Saturday, August 14th the Batavia Counselors’ Collaboration will be hosting an Emotional Wellness booth at the Batavia Farmers' Market full of therapeutic activities to educate our community about the various types of therapies that are available in today’s mental health arena. Several counselors will be available to answer questions and discuss how you can overcome mental health concerns.
Some services that will be showcased are Sound Healing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Massage Therapy, Workshops, Benefits of Group Therapy, Relaxation Activities, and more; all offered by Counselors here in Batavia.
This will not be free therapy. You will not be making any appointments if you don’t want to. This is a chance to ask questions about therapy and how it can make a difference in your life.
All of Us Research Project is a historic effort to accelerate research and improve health by gathering data from one million or more people living in the United States. By taking into account individual differences in lifestyle, environment, and biology, researchers will have the information to better understand health and disease. The more we know about what makes people unique, the more customized health care can become.
To enroll, create an account at nm.org/joinallofus. Participants must give consent and agree to share their electronic health records, answer health surveys, and have their physical measurements taken (height, weight, blood pressure, etc.) and give blood and urine samples, if asked.
By participating in All of Us, you may learn more about your health than ever before. One of the side benefits of participating is that you can get your DNA results over time. Studying DNA is a key part of the program’s effort, and they plan to look at different types of information in your DNA. This will include information about:
● Your genetic ancestry (where your family comes from)
● Your genetic traits, such as why you might love or hate cilantro.
● Whether you may have an increased risk of developing a serious health
condition, such as cancer or heart disease.
● How your body may react to certain medicines.
● Other health-related information.
Join this research effort today to create a healthier future for all of us.
