Batavia Park District recently issued the following announcement.

Steamy weather leaves us longing to cool off in the refreshing water at the beach, and soon the wait will be over! You heard right – the beach is back, baby!

Hall Quarry Beach reopens for the summer on May 29, and will operate from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through August 15. Hall Quarry Beach is located at 400 S. Water St.

Come splash with us! Check out the exciting drop slide, inflatables and the kids’ flume. A zero-depth edge allows for easy access into the water and a picnic area provides kids of all ages a great place for lunch or a snack with family and friends. Patrons may bring their own food and beverages, but alcohol is prohibited. Some prepackaged concessions will be available.

The sandy beach beckons, and not just for children and sand castles. Sand volleyball courts will be open, too. A Co-Rec Beach Volleyball League begins on June 10, at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights at the Quarry.

Swimming lessons and quarry rentals also are available. Fun in the sun awaits!

Daily admission is $10 for residents and $13 for non-residents. Reservations are required and may be made at bataviaparks.org. Children ages 2 and younger are free, but must be registered to comply with health requirements. Daily admission cannot be purchased at the Quarry.

For cancellations, please provide a 24-hour notice to receive a household credit.

As soon as we receive the authority to move to Phase 5, season passes will be available for residents, non-residents and seniors. We will adjust our operations as quickly as possible and communicate via the website when they will be available for purchase.

Safety is paramount. We ask that patrons wear a mask when entering our facility. Patrons will not be expected to wear a mask while swimming. While not in the water, patrons must wear a mask only when they are closer than 6 feet from individuals who do not reside in the same household.

Check out the Quarry’s frequently asked questions for more details. To check on weather updates visit the Batavia Park District website which will continue to be refreshed throughout the season as new information becomes available.

Kayak and paddleboat rentals also will begin on May 29, downtown at the Batavia Riverwalk. Rates for a one-person kayak are $10 for 30 minutes, and $20 for a two-person kayak for 30 minutes. Paddleboat rentals cost $15 for 30-minute excursions. Check out hours of operation and additional information at bataviaparks.org.
