CITY OF AURORA: Illinois Rental Payment Program Now Open

City of Aurora issued the following announcement on May. 19. 

The Illinois Rental Payment Program is an emergency rental assistance program designed to support households in Illinois that are unable to pay rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

The State will begin accepting applications today, Monday, May 17, at 9 a.m., and tenants and housing providers must submit a joint application together.

Applications will be available at: ILRPP.IHDA.org

 

GRANT INFORMATION

Applicants are eligible for up to 15 months of assistance from June 2020 to August 2021. 

The grant can cover the past due rent from the previous 12 months and future rental assistance for the next three months, if deemed necessary. 

The maximum grant amount is $25,000.

If approved, the grant will be paid to the housing provider in the form of a check.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Household must be behind on rent for at least 30 days and/or is at risk of homelessness or housing instability.  

Household must have experienced a financial hardship directly or indirectly due to the pandemic, for example: being laid off, place of employment has closed, reduction in hours of work, inability to find work due to COVID-19, having to stay home with children due to closure of daycare/school. 

2020 household income was at or below the following amounts per household size:

  • Household of 1: $52,200
  • Household of 2: $59,650
  • Household of 3: $67,100
  • Household of 4: $74,550
  • Household of 5: $80,550
  • Household of 6: $86,500
  • Household of 7: $92,450
  • Household of 8: $98,450 
 

DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

Both Tenants and Household Providers will have to submit documents with the application.  

All required documents are listed on the application website.  

PLEASE NOTE: Social security number or proof of immigration status for tenants ARE NOT REQUIRED!
