CITY OF ELGIN: Vaccine Information Update March 22

Coronavaccine

City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Mar. 23.

The City of Elgin continues working with agencies to help increase vaccine distribution to eligible persons.

The City has successfully hosted several vaccination clinics at the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin, with several more already scheduled. These clinics, notice of clinics and appointment registration, however, are coordinated by vaccine providers such as the Kane County Health Department (KCHD), clinics, pharmacies, hospitals and medical practices.

City of Elgin Senior Liaison Cherie Aschenbrenner, works closely with Senior Services Associates of Elgin, and has been actively notifying seniors of their clinic openings through her email distribution list (the link to signup to receive these emails is cityofelgin.org/seniornews). To date, Senior Services Associates of Elgin has hosted ten clinics⏤six at the Centre, two at the School District U-46 administration building and two at Elgin Community College.

Vaccinations are currently only available to persons that fall into priority categories listed in the state's Vaccination Plan Phase 1a and Phase 1b+. This includes frontline healthcare workers, long-term care facility residents and staff, frontline essential workers, residents age 65 and over, and persons with high risk conditions. Additional groups will be eligible in the coming weeks.

Those persons falling into those categories that need appointments are encouraged to register with their county health department's notification list as well as local clinics and pharmacies, and take the first available appointment offered by any providers. Seniors requiring assistance with registering can call Seniors Services Associates of Elgin at 847-741-0404.
