Special Presentations and Reports

All items listed in section “Special Presentations and Reports” are for informational purposes only. As such, the city council is not expected to take action at this time on any item listed below.

A. Alignment Collaborative for Education Presentation

Alignment Collaborative for Education Executive Director Nancy Coleman and School District U-46 Superintendent Tony Sanders will present on milestones and forward direction of the Alignment Collaborative for Education (ACE), a collective impact organization serving 11 communities in supporting the success of all children in School District U-46.

B. Illinois Criminal Justice Reform Legislation Overview

Chief Ana Lalley and Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser will be providing key information on the recently enacted Illinois criminal justice reform legislation (HB 3653).

Initiatives and Other Items

C. Alignment Collaborative for Education Partnership ($60,000 over three-year period) 

Objective: Address educational priorities of the community and improve overall workforce readiness.

D. Acceptance of Public Improvements within the Bowes Creek Country Club Phase III Subdivision ($17,781 estimated five-year maintenance cost)

Objective: Fulfill the City’s obligation to maintain reliable infrastructure for serving businesses and residents.

E. Contract with Galls, LLC for the Purchase of Uniforms and Equipment ($213,630) 

Objective: Provide members of the police department with uniforms and equipment while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

F. Juvenile Violence Intervention and Prevention Program ($90,000)

Objective: Contract with the consulting firm of CKone, LLC to guide the police department in the development of a juvenile violence intervention and prevention program, including training and implementation.

G. Agreement with Harold Beck & Sons, Inc. for Procurement of Filter Valves ($63,865) 

Objective: Provide reliable and adequate water supply by replacing aging equipment.

H. Design Engineering Services Agreement with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. for the Alft Lane and Randall Road Intersection Improvement Project ($109,100) 

Objective: Analyze, design and prepare preliminary engineering design documents for the Alft Lane and Randall Road intersection improvement project to determine the final scope of improvements, level of Kane County participation and the optimal project delivery method.

I. Temporary Utility Assistance Program ($400,000)

Objective: Contract with the Elgin Salvation Army to administer a temporary utility assistance program in order to provide assistance for eligible households with delinquent utility accounts.
