City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Mar. 16.
Kane County announced that a mass vaccination site will open at 501 N. Randall in Batavia this Friday, March 19. The site will be open six days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and there will be a call center operating for eligible persons to make appointments. Officials also announced that Kane County will be making all adults eligible for the vaccine on May 1.
The City has successfully hosted several vaccination clinics. These clinics, notice of clinics and appointment registration, however, are coordinated by vaccine providers such as the Kane County Health Department, clinics, pharmacies, hospitals and medical practices. City of Elgin Senior Liaison Cherie Aschenbrenner, works closely with Senior Services Associates, Inc., and has been actively notifying seniors of their clinic openings in Elgin through her email distribution list (the link to signup to receive these emails is cityofelgin.org/seniornews).
Vaccinations are currently only available to persons that fall into priority categories listed in the state's Vaccination Plan Phase 1a and Phase 1b+. This includes frontline healthcare workers, long-term care facility residents and staff, frontline essential workers, residents age 65 and over, and persons with high risk conditions.
Persons who fall into the priority categories and are seeking an appointment are encouraged to register with their county health department's notification list as well as local clinics and pharmacies, and take the first available appointment offered by any providers.
With Elgin home to both Cook County and Kane County residents, you can find updated information and links on the City's dedicated vaccine webpage: cityofelgin.org/vaccine.
