City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.
You might have a lot of extra waste to put out this week. Here are some reminders of what can and what cannot go in your curbside carts.
Christmas tree collection reminders:
-Collected on regular trash collection day
-All decorations, stands, etc. must be removed
-Do NOT place trees in plastic bags
-Must be free of snow/ice for curbside disposal
-Must be placed on parkway (the area generally located between the street and sidewalk)
-FREE to Elgin residents through January 15
-After January 15, a refuse sticker is required for tree pickup
