4.Randy sent email to all, that bike thefts remain an ongoing problem, even when bikes are locked/secured in downtown area. Please be observant of any suspicious activity and call 911 if you see any. There have been numerous arrests but it is still a problem.
5. Bikes For Batavia: Jen gave the report. We have close to 100 bikes, so not taking more donations now. We do need more adult women’s bikes. Evan set up a donation of bikes to a not for profit in Rockford and may continue helping them if our inventory stays high. Joanne continues to contact the schools, sent them a form with info needed and bikesforbatavia@gmail.com to send it to. Joanne’s friend sent contact info for a Batavian with a bike repair workshop in his home and offered his help.Evan is in touch. Evan continues to get bikes ready and out to door to all on our list, with Jared’s help. And the volunteers that come for his Wednesday night events. We hope to get requests from several adopt a family programs (BUW, TriCity Family Services). And we have a list of bikes to give to Mutual Ground.
6. Bike Share: Troy could not attend meeting but sent this info:
Summary of Bike Share Stats:
-247 rides since July 31.
-Highest performing stations inc. Aurora City Hall, Festival Park in Elgin, and Fountain Square in Elgin. Depot Museum stop has been catching up to those and is about on par with Fountain Square in Elgin now.
-Total System revenue since July 31 is $1540.28, with 26% coming from those with annual memberships.
7. Question about building momentum for bike safety on trail: Will wait to do a Great
8 ride in the spring and can teach trail etiquette/safety. Too many leaves on trail now. Can do during National Bike Month. We should use the 5 kiosks to do a big, permanent sign on trail etiquette (good idea Dave!), and can have a QR code for other things (shops, restaurants).
Randy sent info on what towns/organizations manage parts of the trail.this is attached.
Amy called the city about needing better signage by the Food Pantry.the next day, better signs were there! Thanks Amy and Laura!
John B continues to do great posts on facebook.thanks John!
(I am having some achilles pain, so these were appropriate for me!)
