There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Kane County during the first quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kane County Reporter.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 34. The younger parolee was a 32-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 35-year-old man sentenced in 2012.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Rodolfo Zapata. He was convicted in 2012 when he was 26 years old. He is now 35.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
