Hampshire FPD responds to 60 fires in 2018

Hampshire Fire Protection District responded to 295 calls in 2018 - 20.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hampshire included 60 fires - 27 structure fires, 15 vehicle fires and 18 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $706,503 in fire loss - or about $11,775 per fire.

The department also received 234 false calls.

Four fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Hampshire Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,959,173 in 2018.

The Hampshire FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has seven active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $39,367 positive as of May 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $716 for every fire in 2017.
