Republican state House candidate Laura Curtis and her team participated May 16 in drive-in distribution events where community members in need could pick up a care package full of food items, including milk from Oberweis Dairy, protective masks, hand sanitizer and toilet paper.
Curtis is running for a seat to represent the 49th District.
The first event was held at the New Life Covenant Church at 2250 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin, and the second event was at the Oberweis for Congress St. Charles campaign office at 1700 Lincoln Highway. There were 500 bags at each site for distribution.
“My team and I are excited to coordinate with Kane County elected officials and candidates to distribute free Community Care Packages to those in need," Curtis said prior to the event. "Many families are going through a hard time and are unsure of their financial future. I am proud of the compassionate response from our community. Families are reaching out to their neighbors in need and we are grateful we can help support these efforts.”
Curtis is a small business owner. She has been a North Aurora trustee, where she and her husband live with their two children.
The 49th House District includes parts of Aurora, Bartlett, Batavia, Elgin, Geneva, Naperville, North Aurora, South Elgin, St. Charles, Warrenville, Wayne and West Chicago.
