Illinois state Rep. Allen Skillicorn (R-East Dundee) recently announced that the Village of Algonquin and Dundee Township Park District are the districts receiving grants from the Build Illinois Bond Fund.

Skillicorn said the grants are aimed at helping communities acquire open space and develop, while also enhancing recreational facilities. The programs are funded through the state’s Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program, administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).

All told, Algonquin is slated to receive $400,000 for the Stoneybrook Park Development Project in McHenry, and Dundee Township is set to receive $363,000 for the Hickory Hills Park project in Kane.

“Congratulations to the recipients of the IDNR grants for local park projects as they are an integral part of our communities,” Skillicorn said in a press release. “I look forward to the completion of the Build Illinois projects as well, which sustain our infrastructure for all constituents.”
