Discussion

1. Discussion of North Aurora Days

North Aurora Chairman, Mark Gaffino began the meeting by introducing newly appointed North Aurora Days committee member Carolyn Bird Salazar. Gaffino also mentioned that Chris Sparks was in attendance since he will be helping run the Fishing Derby.

Finance Director, Bill Hannah, updated the committee on sponsorships. Hannah mentioned that the Village has received 16 sponsors so far which is about average at this point. Some of the sponsorships included Woodman’s (platinum sponsor), two gold sponsors, and three silver sponsors.

Kim Haeger and Doug Botkin updated the committee on the beer distributor and beer tent beverage options. Haeger mentioned that since the Village was going with cans this year that Superior offered to increase their sponsorship from last year as well as purchase a state street banner again. Botkin mentioned that cans will make it easier on beer tent staff since there will be no kegs and that it will require less volunteers to staff the beer tent. Botkin and Haeger shared that the beer options include Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, ShockTop, ShockTop lemon, Goose Island IPA, Goose Island 312, RedBridge, Omission, Spiked Seltzer, and a few other options. Options and sizes plan to be finalized at the June meeting.

Haeger also updated the committee on food vendors. Haeger mentioned that one mobile food vendor application has come in so far and that she is waiting on the other vendor’s applications. The committee discussed Sunday’s event and agreed to ask Team Fib, a vendor from last year, to see if they were interested in providing food again for Sunday’s event. Village Administrator, Steve Bosco, mentioned that the Village will come up with a checklist for the Sunday event as well as update the website and send out the North Aurora Days insert in the upcoming Water Bill Newsletter.

Jessi Watkins updated the committee on the talent show and VIP tent. Watkins mentioned that Ali Morgan would host the talent show, which would begin at 3:00pm on Saturday. Ali Morgan may also have a special performance after the talent show concludes due to the 4:00pm band having to cancel. Watkins asked if she could rent furniture for the VIP tent. The committee agreed that there should be some nice lounge furniture and accessories for the VIP tent.

Mark Gaffino made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:22 p.m., which was seconded by Doug Botkin.
