5. New Business
A. LGDF Impact and Potential Funding Changes
Hanson referred to the Local Government Distribution Fund (LGDF) noting that HB158 has not moved. The goal is to restore State Funding to Kane County back to the 2011 level of 10%. Chairman Lauzen emphasized supporting our State Representatives in efforts to restore the 10%.
Supr. of Assessments Armstrong provided a legislative update on SB1871. Kane County has adopted the practice of appointing qualified personnel to the Board of Review and as a result, the County has an appeal rate of less than 1%. This Bill would allow the selection of Review Board Members based on qualifications.
Chairman Lauzen provided an update on the recent Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) decision requiring Illinois Counties to make an additional contribution. Lauzen sent letters to 28 County Chairman and Administrators (representing 65% of the population) regarding the IMRF decision.
