St. Charles Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 20.
A nature filled run through the woods is the highlight of this competetive 5k at the Not All Wounds Bleed 5thAnnual run/walk.
St. Charles, IL Saturday, June 8, 2019 – Not All Wounds Bleed celebrates 5 years with a run/walk featuring local vendors, delectable food, a professionally-timed 5k and a mission of breaking the stigma surrounding Post TraumaticStress Disorder. LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles, Illinois will host this nature filled awareness event beginning at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday 8thJune 2019.
“PTSD is a greatly misunderstood condition, which can affect anyone who has experienced a traumatic event” said Heidi Garton, President of Not All Wounds Bleed. “By raising awareness of what PTSD is, who PTSD can affect and how the public can help, we can break the stigma surrounding this and other mental health conditions. June is National PTSD Awareness Month, join Not All Wounds Bleed on June 8thas we Break the PTSD Sigma One Step at a Time.”
This Annual event will feature a course filled with twists and turns over grass, roads, trails and through the forest making for a part trail part road race with beautiful scenery to help pass the miles. Pre-race and post-race local vendors will be featured in the vendor expo, the event will be emceed by Rick Sandusky from Constructive Noise LLC who will be keeping athletes and sponsors informed and feeling good about their participation. Big River Race Management the Midwest's premier race timing and event management company will be providing participants with professionally timed live results and a seamless registration process. Pre-race yoga will be lead by The Pie Project beginning at 8am, bring your mat and join us. Participants will compete for unique overall and age group awards, all participates will receive a medal upon course completion, a custom water bottle, and have the opportunity to “Break the Stigma.” Those unable to join us in St. Charles on June 8thcan participate via our Virtual Event.
