The price of local government in 2017: City of Geneva

The City of Geneva budget was $93.10 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $10,906 per household.

That's an increase of 6.8 percent from 2016, when the city spent $87.21 million, or $10,216 per household.

Geneva has 8,537 households and a population of 21,495.

Since 2001, the City of Geneva budget has grown by 28.6 percent, from $72.42 million. The city population has grown 10.1 percent over the same period, from 19,515.

Salaries accounted for 16.4 percent of city spending in 2017. Geneva property taxpayers paid $15.23 million for 150 full-time employees and 70 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 150 full-time employees and 50 part-time employees, and spent $11.12 million.
