The new budget proposed by City of Batavia calls for $132.5 million in expenditures in fiscal year 2019, which is 3.3 percent less than what this year’s budget provides.
Officials have until Dec. 31 to approve a budget.
The city proposes spending $400,000 on municipal worker pensions and health care, which is 0.3 percent of the total budget. The pension amount reflects taxpayer contributions to current police and fire employees, as well as other municipal employees.
A total of $9.8 million, or 7.4 percent of total city expenditures, would go to police protection, while fire services represent 4.5 percent of the 2019 budget, or $5.9 million.
The budget proposal mentioned the following tax or fee changes: a 3 percent water rate increase and 4 percent wastewater services hike.
