CITY OF BATAVIA: Curbside Leaf Collection Program Update

Leavesclean

City of Batavia issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.

The curbside Leaf Collection Program resumed on Tuesday, December 4, after being suspended due to the recent blizzard. We hope to complete the east side by early next week and will then return to the west side for the third collection, which is weather permitting. If the program is suspended again due to the weather, notice will be given through the City of Batavia website, eNews, Facebook, and Twitter. Crews will not be returning to streets shown as collected on the progress map that is updated daily at the end of the business day.

As an alternate option, residents may place leaves in brown Kraft yard waste bags and put them out for collection on their scheduled refuse collection day WITHOUT A STICKER in December. The refuse collection company will collect yard waste bags (no cans) weekly until December 31, 2018. Only leaves may be placed in the yard waste bags. No grass or other yard waste can be mixed with the leaves. Please try to keep the yard waste bags as dry as possible.
