K. D. Waldo Middle School reports 22% truancy rate

The truancy rate at K. D. Waldo Middle School rose to 22 percent during the 2016-17 school year, according to a Kane County Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The schools average daily attendance rate was 91 percent.

Students are considered chronically truant if they miss 5 percent of school days or more per year without acceptable excuses. The Aurora East USD 131 saw a chronic truancy rate of 19 percent during the 2016-17 school year, while the statewide rate was 11 percent.

The school enrolled 989 students in the 2016-17 school year, and average daily attendance was at 91 percent for the year, the Illinois State Board of Education reported. The average daily rate of attendance across the state was 94 percent.
