1. Call to Order

3. Public Comment

Bob Hueuer, Agriculture consultant provided an update from last month's discussion. He provided a brief overview of the current trends and the importance of the JJC program educating the youth on farming and agriculture; including the farm to school grant. He emphasized the importance of getting a merger of the social and economic funding together. Chair Smith reiterated the need to look for other sources of funding rather than Riverboat.

4. Partners

A. Kane County Farm Bureau Updates - Steve Arnold, Manager

Mr. Arnold gave a brief update and provided handouts for the upcoming events. He promoted the Woodchip Bioreactor Field day September 12, and the September 18 meeting regarding hunger and the decrease of milk sales and consumption. He discussed the Ag Innovation Challenge, the deadline for submission is September 24, they will be offering up to $145,000 worth of prizes.

B. Northern Illinois Food Bank Updates - Teresa Schryver, Communications Specialist

Ms. Schryver shared information about the Fiscal year successes. They distributed 18M lbs. of produce and 65.9M meals distributed across 13 counties for FY18. She stated of the 65.9M, 1.6M meals distributed for children, and 529,000 for seniors. She mentioned they are still working on filling in a few district gaps.

5. Presentations/Announcements

A. Food Hub Tour Preview - Matt Tansley, Land Use Planner

Staff Tansley gave a PowerPoint presentation included in the agenda packet. He promoted the food hub tour at the Dream Hub and Dream Hall Facility today August 23, immediately following the committee meeting.

B. Farmland Protection Program Budget Adjustment - Matt Tansley, Land Use Planner

Dev. Dir. VanKerkhoff provided information for the budget adjustment and presented the following resolution:

A. Resolution: Authorization to Approve Fund 430 Farmland Preservation Budget Adjustment

This authorizes the FY2018 budget adjustment be granted to bring FP Fund 430 budgeted expenses in line with actual expenses for FY 2018 in the total amount of $2,631.
