Hampshire FPD responds to 50 fires in 2017

Hampshire Fire Protection District responded to 355 calls in 2017 - 14.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hampshire included 50 fires - 27 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 15 other fires.

In all, the department saw $226,136 in fire loss - or about $4,523 per fire.

The department also received 305 false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and two were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Hampshire Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,811,332 in 2017.

The Hampshire FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has seven active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $29,383 positive as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $753 for every fire in 2016.
