City of Geneva International Cultural Exchange Committee met May 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1. Meeting was called to order: 5:15 pm

2. Board members present: Cynthia Albright, Pam Cabeen, Larry Johnson, Mary Jane Johnson, and Denise Snyder SPAC present: Barb Merrill Attendees: Tyler Bieschke

3. Approval of April Minutes: Larry Johnson moved and Pam Cabeen seconded.

4. Treasurer’s Report: Angela was not in attendance, but Cynthia reported that Lisa Murphy’s expenses of approximately $40.00 have been paid. The culinary event cost roughly $120.00.

5. Culinary Project with Williamsburg School: The Creperie/Impressionistic Art event was a huge success. Photos from the event are available on the Geneva City Website within the May 2nd newsletter.

6. Cynthia reported the ICEC updated webpage is posted on the Geneva City Website. Cynthia’s interview with Kevin Stahr about ICEC is available in the videos section.

7. The Croissy delegation will visit from September 21st through September 25th. There are currently six persons who be visiting Geneva. Activity ideas for the delegation include a visit to Roquette America Innovation Center, Casey’s Safe Haven horse rescue, a picnic at Peck Farm, the Geneva History Museum, the Chamber of Commerce, and a trolley tour of Geneva.

A reception will be held on Friday, September 21st, and a progressive dinner on Sunday, September 23rd.

8. GPLD Foreign Film Sunday: Ingmar Bergman’s Wild Strawberries is the next scheduled film.

9. Tyler Bieschke said the next ICEC newsletter would be published soon. Tyler said the newsletter recounts the early roots of Geneva as seen through the eyes of Terri Emma, a lifelong resident of Geneva. Cynthia suggested a newsletter focusing on the art of two sculptors, Larry from Geneva and Maude from Croissy.

10. ECI Summer Programs: Pam is currently working with Marissa to confirm summer dates of July 11th-30th and July 31st through August 18th. There are 25 students scheduled for the first session and 12 for the second session. The picnics will be held on July 15th and August 5th. Pam asked that we confirm our Get to Know Geneva days at the next meeting.

11. Angela investigated Wildwood as a potential venue for a friendraiser/fundraiser. Wildwood is not available this spring. A suggestion was made that Larry Johnson’s studio be a venue along with Penrose Brewery. A cost of $25.00 was discussed.

12. Cynthia once again mentioned the idea of ICEC notecards. Everyone agreed notecards would be appropriate. Larry moved that $100.00 be earmarked for notecards. Denise seconded the motion. Cynthia will obtain an exact quote.

13. Larry motioned the meeting be adjourned and Denise seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 6:35 pm.
