1. Call to Order

Co-Chair Gillam called the meeting to order at 10:44 AM.

3. Office of Community Reinvestment - Workforce Development Division

A. OCR Financials

Staff Gonzalez reviewed the monthly financial reports included in the agenda packet noting they are monitoring funds to be sure each are in line with all benchmarks. Dir. Berger presented the following resolution:

B. Resolution: Authorizing Contracting for Rapid Response Employment Services Authorizing a contract with TEC Services Consulting to develop customized re-employment plans and deliver employment readiness programming over roughly a 13-month period in an amount not to exceed $495,233.00.

4. Comments by Co-Chair

Co-Chair Gillam introduced Ron Ford as the new committee Co-Chair.

5. Jobs Committee Priorities

A. Chicago Regional Growth Corporation Presentation - Lisa Reijula, Program Manager, Metro Chicago Exports (Priorities 2 and 4)

Referencing a presentation not included in the agenda packet, Ms. Reijula stated that Kane County has been a driving force for regional economic development. She provided background on the Chicago Regional Growth Corporation (CRGC) and discussed their mission. Reijula shared an overview of their programs, regional systems, and industry clusters. Considerable discussion followed.

B. Waubonsee Community College Small Business Development Center - Harriet Parker, Manager, Illinois SBDC (Priorities 3, 4 and 6)

Ms. Parker shared an overview of Waubonsee's Small Business Development Center noting they are one of thirty centers throughout the state. Their primary mission is to provide a one on one service to entrepreneurs and small business owners. They tailor their services individually and offer a wide variety of consultants, resources, and workshops. Since 2006, the center has served over 2,300 clients. Parker discussed client profiles, partnerships, and resources.

6. Public Comment

Dev. Dir. VanKerkhoff thanked those in the audience for attending and noted a round table lunch discussion will follow for those that can stay.
