City of Geneva Beautification Committee will meet May 3.
Here is the agenda provided by the Committee:
1) Introductions of new committee members
2) Summer Planting Saturday May 19, 2018 - Jena
a) The City Newsletter will have announcements of our planting days the week before. In it we will invite more volunteers to come and join us in planting and to be cautious when driving by us during planting hours.
b) Discuss Plant day Pick Up: - Kathy
1) Change in time 7:30 am -8:30 am
2) Change in process
a) Garden captains will have someone come pick up plants. They should know their garden name and number. Garden Captains please give this info in your e-mail
b) Parking lot will have enter and exit signs
c) Pick up person will drive into enter side to station #1 where
Co- Chair will greet them and ask for their garden name and number. Garden sign will be handed to them if the garden didn’t received one at Spring pick up
d) Station #2 Co- Chair will place a sign under the windshield wiper that will have garden number and amount of plants designated for that garden
e) Station #3 Car will drive to the end of parking lot where plants will be located. Co-Chair will remove the sign from windshield (keeping it) and call out to the designated garden captains what plants to load in the car. Orange Cones will be available if you would like to put one by your garden while planting. This will help alert drivers to be cautious, we suggest you place the cones near the street.
f) After loading completed car will drive out exit side of parking lot
3) Discuss Plant Day clean up changes – Kathy
a) Truck Pick Up Time will be 9 am-10:30 am. All bags and cones need to be put by the garden side that is nearest to the street in this time frame. If garden does planting at different time then they are responsible to dispose of bags at home. You will not be able to have cones if you do not plant Sat. because they need to be returned in the truck Sat am
b) Plastic plant containers all gardens need to take them home to recycle

c) Discuss perennials in gardens
d) Do we want to continue to plant cannas
