About 20 percent of Hall Elementary School students passed annual English language arts assessments in 2017 and 80 percent of students failed, according to a Kane County Reporter analysis of
the latest Illinois schools report card.
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, is administered to third- through eighth-graders in Illinois, testing them in reading and math based on Common Core standards.
According to Hall Elementary School English language scores, about 20 percent met expectations and none exceeded them. Students whose results are in either category are considered to be most ready to move on to the next level and are most prepared for college or work.
Another 22 percent approached expectations, while 29 percent partially met expectations and 29 percent did not meet them. Students who scored in these categories are not ready for the next level of schooling, according to the test.
Test results at Hall Elementary School, which enrolled 604 students in 2017, fell below state averages.
Statewide, 37 percent of students passed the test and 63 percent failed.
Of students statewide who passed, only five percent 'exceeded' expectations.
