U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) wants to send $36.5 billion in aid to help recovery efforts in the wake of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, as well as wildfires in the West, according to a press release.
“Families and small business owners in Puerto Rico and in Florida, California, Texas and other states are suffering from terrible natural disasters,” Hultgren said in the release. “These needy families facing a true emergency need relief so they can rebuild their lives following unforeseen catastrophe. This legislation provides that relief.”
Besides pushing for the relief legislation, Hultgren is also urging the House to work toward reforming flood insurance to help ensure that it will be there to help in the future.
