Kane County Public Service Committee met April 20.

1. Call to Order
Chairman Scheflow called the meeting to order at 9:02 am.

3. Finance
The monthly financial reports were included in the agenda packet. Finance staff Waggoner reported there were no areas of concern to report at this time.
4. Recorder
Recorder Wegman noted the monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. She reported on current legislation they are monitoring. (Lewis arrives @ 9:06 a.m.) Brief conversation occurred.
5. Treasurer / Collector
Referencing the monthly reports included in the agenda packet, Treasurer Rickert highlighted the additional addendum he will be including each month with detailed data from the county tax agent. He provided background information on the properties the tax agent manages and noted the tax agent does not work for the Treasurer's Office, he works for the county ward. Rickert reported the tax bill data will be live on the county's website April 26 and the bills will be mailed on April 18, 2017. He stated that due to the efforts of various departments, the tax bills have gone out on time for the last 11 years. That is not the norm for a lot of other counties.
6. Supervisor of Assessments
Monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Assessor Armstrong noted the main focus of the report is the projected equalization factors which has been transferred to each Township Assessor in the county for the 2017 payable 2018 assessments. They should have all the assessors’ information back by the end of May. Considerable conversation followed.
7. Regional Office of Education
Superintendent DalSanto reminded the committee of the Educator of the Year Banquet on April 28, 2017. They received 44 nominees from throughout the county. She announced the Jail has been approved as a GED testing for inmates. They started conducting tests on February 21, 2017. DalSanto shared testing results noting they indicate the GED Prep Program has been doing well. Conversation followed.
8. County Clerk
The monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Co. Clk. Cunningham reported fees collected for Marriage licenses and passports were up. This may indicate that people are getting a better feeling about the economy. Cunningham noted they received over $6,600 back from the state in reimbursements for a portion of the election judges' education. He compared Kane County’s election statistics with other counties, noting other counties were down in polling turnout.
