U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) is ready to help make President Donald Trump's fiscal year 2018 budget proposal a reality.
“I commend President Trump for releasing a budget that acknowledges our fiscal crisis and makes a serious effort to address Washington’s out-of-control spending, waste, and abuse," Hultgren said in a press release. "While some growth assumptions may be optimistic, it is a good blueprint of the President’s priorities."
The $4.1 trillion budget plan includes major cuts to social welfare, science and arts programs while upping defense spending by 10 percent.
“We face difficult choices as we work to continue to grow jobs, protect our nation, and reduce the deficit and the nearly $20 trillion national debt," Hultgren said in the statement. "Now it is Congress’ turn, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to crafting the fiscal year 2018 spending package that sets forth our priorities to ensure fiscal accountability while promoting economic growth.”
