Kane County Public Service Committee met March 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1. Call to Order

Chairman Scheflow called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.

2. Approval of Minutes: February 23, 2017

3. Finance

The monthly financial reports were included in the agenda packet. Finance staff Waggoner reported there were no areas of concern to report at this time.

4. Recorder

Monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Recorder staff Scholes advised the recordings are down due to the interest rate increase.

5. Treasurer / Collector

The monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Staff Herrera noted they have mailed out the mobile home tax bills and finalized the senior deferral program applications.

6. Supervisor of Assessments

Monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Assessor staff Winter reported the Senior Assessment Freeze applications will go out in the mail this week. Brief discussion followed.

7. Regional Office of Education

8. County Clerk

The monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Co. Clk. Cunningham reported they have finished the property tax calculations for the county’s 193,000+ parcels of land. The calculations have been passed on to the Treasurer's office and will go out on time. Cunningham provided an update on their contributions to the general fund. He reported the tax extension is in the process. Early voting sites are open. He projected a low voting turnout since the consolidated elections don't generate the interest that the other elections do. Considerable discussion followed.
