Aurora calls forth Independence Day nominations

Aurora1000

Aurora residents who missed the deadline to nominate someone for the Memorial Day Parade can still throw a name into the ring for the Fourth of July Parade.

Grand marshal candidates must be or have been Aurora residents who have contributed to the quality of life in the city. Efforts in the social services or humanitarianism, as well as personal achievements — athletics, etc. — can qualify.

Nominees can live in the city or be former residents who brought distinction to the community. Candidates must be willing to serve as grand marshal and receive honors from the City Council during a special reception. Previous nominees can be re-entered.

Nomination forms are available online at www.aurora-il.org/events/permits.php. The deadline for Fourth of July nominations is May 18.

For general information about Memorial Day and Fourth of July celebrations, call 630-256-3370.
