Geneva ranked 580th in state in lottery ticket sales for May 2016

The City of Geneva had the 580th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- up 76 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Geneva was $14.80 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kane County Reporter, Geneva generated $322,774 in net sales from its 10 lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $309,339.50 in May 2015.

The City of Geneva is in Kane County, and has a population of 21,806, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Batavia, St. Charles and West Chicago.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $27,419.25.

Geneva's top lottery retailer is 7-Eleven #33850 located at 621 W State St, Geneva, IL 60134.

7-Eleven #33850 generated 28 percent of Geneva's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 3 percent of Kane County's sales that month, which was $3,729,019.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kane County in 2015 were West Dundee, Hampshire, North Aurora, South Elgin and Algonquin.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
