Geneva is resuming leaf collection this month for the majority of the city in areas that did not receive a fourth pickup last fall.
Leaf pickup begins March 13 in Zone A, east of the Fox River, and Zone C, west of the river and south of Route 38 (Keslinger Road). Zone B, which is west of the river and north of Route 38, is not part of the pickup. The pickup program will take place over approximately one week.
Leaves should be raked to the curb by 7 a.m., lying parallel to the street and 13 inches behind the curb or pavement edge. Do not rake leaves into the street or near the gutter, as this can block storm sewers and cause flooding.
Residents requested more leaf pickup in the fall, but snow and freezing conditions halted the program in early December.
Yard waste should not be mixed in with leaves. The citywide yard-waste removal program will begin in April.
A map of the leaf pickup area, including details about the program, is available online at www.geneva.il.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=762.
