Aurora has the best tasting water in Kane County, according to results from the annual Kane County Water Association's Water Taste Test Contest.

Judges tasted water from 10 communities throughout the county, scoring each on taste, scent and color. Aurora's water ranked the best for the sixth time. Aurora also won in 2013, 2008, 2006, 2000 and 1998.

"None of this is possible without the daily effort of each member of our team," Water Production Superintendent David Schumacher said. "Whether it is maintaining equipment, operating systems, general upkeep of our sites, processing samples and performing analyses, budgeting for our required supplies, or any of the other necessary tasks to keep the Water Production Division going strong."

Aurora's drinking water has earned recognition throughout Illinois and even nationwide for its taste and quality. The water won for best taste in the state in 1999, 2000 and 2007-2009.

In 2015, a nationwide program called the Partnership for Safe Water recognized the city's water-production team with a president's award for quality.

Aurora City Council recognized the water-production team at a meeting earlier this month to congratulate them for their quality work.
