Kane County residents who are disabled or at least 65 years old may qualify for a discounted ride service for things like doctor's appointments or rides to work, the City of St. Charles announced recently.
The curbside service is available every day of the year, including holidays, and can be scheduled up to seven days in advance.
To use the service, riders must register with a sponsor to determine their qualification. Sponsors include county social services, municipalities and townships, and may be found at rideinkane.org.
Fares for the curbside service are $4 for the first 10 miles; there is an additional charge for longer trips. Group discounts are available for three or more passengers.
Ride in Kane is offered via a partnership with the Regional Transportation Authority, Kane County, Pace Suburban Bus and agencies such as the Association for Individual Development and the Senior Services Association.
