West Dundee's trash and recyclables pickup will be moved to Saturday, Jan. 7, due to the New Year's holiday, while Christmas trees will be picked up at the curb on two different days.
Republic Services will collect Christmas trees placed curbside on Jan. 7 and Jan. 13 only. It will not pick up trees left after the 13th.
All decorations should be removed from the tree, and the cut end of each tree should face the street. Trees should be left un-bagged -- any tree placed in a bag or wrapped in plastic will not be accepted. Trees and greenery covered in artificial snow cannot be accepted.
Natural garlands and wreaths can be placed in yard waste bags for disposal.
Christmas trees may also be recycled by taking them to the Dundee Township garage, 1900 Sleepy Hollow Road, at Route 72. Trees can be dropped off until Jan. 15. For more information about tree recycling, call Highway Commissioner Larry Braasch at 847-426-0898.
Some electronics are also being accepted for recycling, such as damaged Christmas lights, cellphones, computers and DVD players. Take such items to the West Dundee Public Works facility, 900 Angle Tarn, on business days until 3 p.m.
