Beginning with an opening reception 5-7:30 p.m. today, 30 collage artists’ works will grace the Aurora Public Art Commission in the David L. Pierce Art and History Center at 20 E. Downer Place in Aurora.
Coordinated by the Midwest Collage Society, consisting of over 60 Chicago-area and northwest Indiana members, the show’s regular hours will be noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays until Oct. 22. Admission is free both to tonight’s opening reception and during all regular gallery hours.
Located in the third-floor gallery of the Pierce Center, "The Collective Muse" collage exhibit will showcase the work of artists Nancy Castner, Nancy Staszak, June Fuerstenhaefer, Elaine Rath, Cherie Denton, Barb Boland, Mary Yezek, Pat Pope, LuEllen Joy Giera, Melinda VanDril-Beer, Turkan Ildekmirci, Joan Lucht, Marge Boyd, Jerri Reimann, Tania Blanco, Margi Hafer, Donna Johnston, Maureen Gasek, Cindy Hughes, Gale C. Vance, Kathy Schoenauer, Dee De Schneider, Laura Lein-Svencner, Fabra DiPaolo, Margaret Swedzikowski, Rose Kostan-Schwartz, Meg Guttman, Teresa Cash, Karen Sako and Mary Alice DeRose.
The Midwest Collage Society is a regional affiliate of the National Collage Society. Created in 2003, it promotes collage as fine art, exhibiting three or more times annually at galleries in the Chicago metropolitan area.
