From now through Sept. 30, Aurora-area residents can donate for dogs or contribute for cats in a joint adoption incentive project arranged between Aurora Animal Control and Care (AACC) and the Aurora school system.
As area students prepare for back-to-school time, AACC wants to send more pets to their “forever homes” by promoting their special adoption campaign. Anyone who donates $5 worth of school supplies will receive a 50 percent discount on adoption fees.
The special can make finding a pet more affordable for those families on a budget. On average, adopting a cat or dog can cost up to $90, with expenses including vaccination, spay or neuter, microchipping and city registration fees.
Through AACC’s innovative special, families can adopt a furry friend for only $45 — and make a big difference both in their lives and in that of their new pets. With the animal control facility planning to donate all donated school supplies directly to Aurora schools, all parties are winners.
AACC’s adoption hours are from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The facility is located at 600 S. River Street, Aurora.
