Algonquin Liquor Commission warns gas station convenience store

At a recent meeting, the Algonquin Liquor Commission threatened a gas station convenience store with license revocation after it sold alcohol to a minor for a second time.

The Algonquin Liquor Commission meets when necessary. Members of the village board serve on the commission, and the village president is the liquor commissioner.

Algonquin Village Liquor Commission Hearing

held in Village Board Room on July 5, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: A roll call showed the following Commissioners were present: Debby

Sosine, Brian Dianis, Jim Steigert, Jerrold Glogowski, Robert Smith, John Spella, John

Schmitt. Village Clerk, Jerry Kautz was also in attendance.

Staff in Attendance: Tim Schloneger, Village Manager; John Bucci, Police Chief; and

Kelly Cahill, Village Attorney.

Liquor Commissioner, John Schmitt, opened the meeting at 7:15 PM.

For Alleged Violations of Chapter 33, Liquor Control and Liquor Licensing, of the

Algonquin Municipal Code and applicable sections of the Illinois Compiled Statutes

Selling/Serving Alcohol to Minors

(Please Note: A Court Reporter was present to take verbatim minutes)

1. Cheeseburger of Algonquin, LLC., d/b/a Fuddruckers Restaurant, 1608 S. Randall

Road

Danny Sparacino Jr., Manager was the respondent of the violation and pleaded guilty to

the charges of selling to a minor. After being warned by Commissioners on the

seriousness of this occurrence, the penalty is a $1,000 fine + court costs + BASSET

training. All Commission Members consented.

2. The Texan Inc., d/b/a Texan BBQ, 101 North Main Street

The owner/Mgr. Rochelle Raddatz representing the company pleaded guilty to the

charges of selling to a minor. The penalty is a $1,000 fine + court costs + BASSET

training. All Commission Members consented.

3. MPS Mart Inc. d/b/a Citgo, 609 South Main Street

Since this was a second offense at this location, the owner was warned that if selling to a

minor occurs again they are in jeopardy of their license being revoked and would affect

their business. All commissioners were in agreement as to the severity of this incident.

Penalty is 15-day suspension of liquor sales from July 11 to July 26, 2016 + court costs +

BASSET training. All Commission Members consented.

ADJOURNMENT: Being no further business, Commissioner Schmitt adjourned the

meeting at 7:44 p.m.
