Nicor Gas and its contractors will begin clearing vegetation near a natural gas line utility easement on the west side of Geneva starting in November. The work will take place along a north-south right-of-way between Randall and Peck roads, with two main focus areas identified by the company.
The first area is located north of Fabyan Parkway to Kaneville Road, just west of the Geneva middle school campus. The second area stretches from north of Keslinger Road to a location between Heartland Drive and Husking Peg Lane, east of Chapelstreet Church.
According to Nicor, this maintenance is necessary to ensure safe access for inspections and repairs on the natural gas pipeline. The project will include survey work, staking, removal of obstructions, and managing vegetation to create 30 feet of clearance on either side of the line.
"Nicor said the work is being done to provide the company safe access to its natural gas pipeline for inspections and repairs."
Residents living near the easement have been notified about the project and advised to remove any possible obstructions. Those seeking further information are encouraged to contact Nicor Asset Protection Manager Stan Jones at 224-806-1686 or Project Manager Amanda Butera at 224-376-9599.
