Nicor Gas will begin clearing vegetation near its natural gas line utility easement on the west side of Geneva starting in November. The company and its contractors will work along a right-of-way that runs north-south between Randall and Peck roads.

Work will take place in two areas. The first area is north of Fabyan Parkway to Kaneville Road, with the easement just west of the Geneva middle school campus. The second area is north of Keslinger Road to a spot between Heartland Drive and Husking Peg Lane, with the easement located east of Chapelstreet Church.

Nicor stated that the vegetation clearing is necessary to provide safe access to its natural gas pipeline for inspections and repairs. Maintenance activities will include survey work, staking, removal of obstructions, and managing vegetation to ensure 30 feet of clearance on each side of the pipeline.

Residents living near the affected areas have been notified and asked to remove any potential obstructions. For more information, Nicor advised contacting Asset Protection Manager Stan Jones at 224-806-1686 or Project Manager Amanda Butera at 224-376-9599.
