The City of Geneva is set to begin replacing the water main on Division Street this fall, with work planned between Route 25 and East Side Drive. The project is scheduled to start the week of September 29 and is expected to be completed by late November, depending on weather conditions.

In preparation for this full replacement, the City previously completed a water main crossing at Route 25 and Division Street in 2023. The new infrastructure will be installed on the south side of Division Street, replacing the existing main located on the north side. Most construction activity will take place along the south side of the roadway, which may result in a traffic lane closure. Minor traffic disruptions are also possible at East Side Drive and Division Street, but Route 25 should remain unaffected.

Division Street will stay open for local traffic only during construction. A detour route will guide motorists into St. Charles by traveling north on Second Place, west on Moore Avenue, and then south on Seventh Place—which becomes East Side Drive in Geneva. Drivers heading north on East Side Drive will follow the detour in reverse.

Water service interruptions for residents are expected to be minimal; outages will occur only when homes are connected to the new water main. The City plans to provide at least two days’ advance notice before these scheduled outages, which should last less than four hours.

Residents living near the project area will receive letters about upcoming construction activities. Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick (HLR), serving as the City's engineering consultant, will oversee inspection services and keep neighbors informed about scheduled water connections.

Additional information—including a project map and construction updates—is available through the Division Street Water Main project page on the City’s website.
