The St. Charles Fire Department has announced that it will carry out hydrant flow testing at 445 Kautz Road and 3855 Swenson Avenue on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The tests are scheduled to start at around 9:00 a.m. and are expected to conclude by 11:00 a.m.

During or shortly after the testing, residents may notice rust in their water supply. According to the department, "The water is safe; however you may want to refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear." Residents whose clothes become discolored due to rusty water while laundering are advised to keep the clothing wet and contact the Public Works Department at 630-377-4405 for a rust-removing solution packet.

Drivers are also urged to exercise caution in areas where hydrant flushing is taking place because of possible water on the pavement.
