Kane County Mill Creek Special Service Area Advisory Board met July 28

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL MEETING TO ORDER

Phil Morris called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm.

ATTENDANCE

Roll call taken by Brooke Roff

Members Present: Heidi Urbelis, Phil Morris, Brad Rosenberg, Mike Ulaszek, Mary Kobbeman and Daniel Risch

Absent: Tom Giammanco

Also Present: Randy Newkirk (HLR)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion to approve June’s minutes with motion to approve by Mary Kobbeman and seconded by Brad Rosenberg. All in favor.

PUBLIC COMMENT

• Front entrance weeds are taking over

• Sidewalk update for Herrington and Mill Creek

• David & Mary Bruno

• Is there a way to get more communication out about what entities are in charge of what areas (pond restoration, ADA Sidewalks, lighting, etc.).

• Replacement of faded street signs

MCSSA FINANCIAL REPORTS

• Roger Fahnestock went over Mill Creek budget (Balance Sheet, Budget Performance Report, Detailed Ledger, Budget Worksheet, Budget Transaction Report).

COMMUNICATIONS REPORT

OBJECTIVES FOR 2025 AND PRIORITIZATION OF GOALS

• Sidewalks – ADA, drainage, damage

• Roads and repairs – potholes, resurfacing, damage

• Landscape and appearance – trees, mulch, plantings

• Native areas – invasive species and appearance

• Monuments and signs – appearance and maintenance 

• Vacancy on the SSA Board

MILL CREEK SSA COORDINATOR’S REPORT

• Fixed September’s meeting date to the 22nd (4th Monday) and cancelled December 22nd meeting.

• Pressure washing the signs – quote received and will be getting another quote.

• Sidewalk contractor starting the week of August 4th.

• Sidewalk work completed on Boyd. M/M Peters will work on Mallory in mid-August.

• Still looking for an asphalt contractor for drainage issue at Armstrong/Dooley in alley.

• Parkway trees are being trimmed – Section O is complete, they are now in sections A&B.

• Compiling a list of trees for complete replacement.

• Brush Pick-Up is currently going on and should be complete by the 30th.

• ADA Replacement at Greenfield Retirement Community is pending PO.

• Nominations for appointment to vacancy on the advisory board

• Budget Recommendations

• Organization of Mill Creek SSA Administration and Operations

• Mill Creek Office Rental Recommendations
