Geneva Construction, a contractor for the City, is undertaking the 2025 Street Program. This project involves resurfacing 19 residential roads and includes additional improvements such as pavement patching on Third Street, reconstruction of the Hamilton Street parking lot, reconfiguration of James Street parking, updated pavement markings, and drainage repairs. A map and list of locations are available online.

Starting June 26, excavation and sidewalk removal will begin for the reconfiguration of parking spaces on James Street from First (Route 31) to Second streets. Although the roadway will remain open to traffic, parking will not be available during construction. The sidewalk on the north side by City Hall and the old library building will also be closed.

The driveway behind City Hall is expected to close on June 26 but will temporarily reopen from June 27 through the weekend. It will close again from June 30 to July 1 for new concrete surface work that requires curing time. Customers needing to pay utility bills cannot access the dropbox behind City Hall during this period. Alternative payment methods are available in FAQs provided by the City.

For those visiting City Hall's Building Division or attending meetings at Council Chambers on June 26, access via James Street entrance remains open. Visitors should use the sidewalk wrapping around from Route 31.

Concrete work has been completed in Lewis Road area with paving operations set to begin on June 26 and continue into next week. Residents and visitors are reminded not to park on streets between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. when crews are present.

Reconstruction began this week at Hamilton Street's southwest corner parking lot with saw cutting and storm/conduit installation scheduled for completion by late July or early August.

Other projects include completed concrete work on Northampton Drive with driveway patching expected soon, and finished concrete work along Fargo Boulevard where new bike sharrows have been marked.

Residents can subscribe for updates via Notify Me on the City's website or contact Civil Engineer Elton Orozco at 630-232-1279 for more information about street programs.
