Elgin has been nominated for the "Best Place to Live" in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards by the Daily Herald. This annual program allows suburban residents to nominate and vote for their preferred local businesses, professionals, and municipalities across more than 200 categories. Winners are determined by public voting.

This is the second year in a row that Elgin has received a nomination in this category, following its recognition in 2024. Factors contributing to Elgin's nomination include its growing arts scene with public murals, art installations, galleries, and live performances enhancing the downtown experience. Additionally, year-round community events celebrating cultural diversity play a significant role.

The city also offers numerous outdoor recreation opportunities such as access to the Fox River Trail, scenic parks, kayaking on the Fox River, and nearby nature preserves.

Voting for this year's awards remains open until June 28. Residents can support Elgin's bid for "Best Place to Live" by visiting bit.ly/4jKsrOs.
