The Route 31 underpass will be temporarily closed for maintenance work by Union Pacific. The closure is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 2, and continue until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3. During this period, the underpass will be inaccessible from Third to South streets.
Despite the road closure, commuter trains will maintain their usual schedule. Union Pacific has announced that signage will be installed to alert drivers about the upcoming closure. An official detour route has been designated: northbound travelers on Route 31 should use Fabyan Parkway, Route 25, and State Street (Route 38). For southbound traffic, the detour route is reversed. Trucks are advised to follow the official detour path.
Local traffic has an alternative option via Third Street to cross the Union Pacific-West Railway tracks. Both motorists and visitors in downtown areas are urged to exercise caution due to expected increased traffic on Third Street.
It is important to note that the repair timeline is contingent upon weather conditions and may change accordingly. Updates regarding the project will be available on the City's website.
