Geneva Construction is set to begin work on the 2025 Street Program, which involves resurfacing 19 residential roadways in the community. The program also includes several other projects such as Third Street pavement patching, Hamilton Street parking lot reconstruction, James Street parking reconfiguration, pavement markings, and drainage repairs. Detailed maps and project locations are available online.

An update on May 12 indicates that the Downtown Third Street pavement patching has been postponed to Tuesday, May 13. Once operations commence, Third Street will be closed from south of James to the south side of Campbell streets until Friday, May 23. Initial stages will involve noise and dust due to saw cutting through the roadway. The removal of old concrete is expected by Thursday, May 15, with plans for pouring new concrete on Friday or Saturday, May 16-17. The new surface requires a week to cure.

The intersection at Third and Campbell streets will be entirely closed to motorists in all directions. While James Street remains open, drivers cannot turn south onto Third Street.

Parking along this one-block stretch will be unavailable during construction; however, sidewalks remain accessible for downtown visitors. Temporary closure of several parking spaces on the west side of Third Street near the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Niche Restaurant, and the U.S. Post Office is planned for pavement patching purposes. Traffic lanes in both directions between State (Route 38) and James streets will stay open.

Other parts of Downtown Third Street will remain accessible for vehicles and parking.

All scheduled activities depend on weather conditions and may change accordingly.
