FOIA Request to City of Batavia Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Batavia. Our request seeks access to records detailing businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we are interested in obtaining a list that includes the following fields: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.

Access to these public records is crucial for us as media professionals. It enables us to fulfill our responsibilities in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. We believe that this information will help inform our readers about local business activities and contribute to a more informed electorate.

In our request, we have also sought a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating information as members of the media. Additionally, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving the requested information from the City of Batavia and continuing our mission to provide transparent and factual reporting.
