Downtown Third Street will undergo pavement patching starting Monday, May 12. The project, which stretches from south of James to the south side of Campbell streets, will result in a road closure expected to last until Friday, May 23, weather permitting.

The initial phase of the work will involve noise and dust as crews saw cut through the roadway. Following this, new concrete will be poured and will require time to cure.

Motorists should note that the entire intersection of Third and Campbell streets will be inaccessible from all directions. Although James Street remains open, drivers are prohibited from turning south onto Third Street.

Parking along both sides of this one-block section will not be available during construction. However, sidewalks will remain accessible for downtown visitors.

In addition to these closures, several parking spaces on the west side of Third Street near key locations such as the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Niche Restaurant, and the U.S. Post Office will also be temporarily closed for pavement patching. Despite these disruptions, traffic lanes on Third Street between State (Route 38) and James streets will stay open in both directions.

This patching is part of Geneva's 2025 Street Program aimed at resurfacing 19 residential roads alongside other parking and drainage enhancements. Details about the projects can be accessed on the City’s website.

Residents can subscribe for road work updates via Notify Me on the City’s website. For further information regarding the street program, individuals may contact Civil Engineer Elton Orozco at 630-232-1279 or by email.
